The different materials of hub center caps are ranked in corrosion resistance and hardness respectively:
On corrosion resistance:
Stainless Steel < Aluminum < Carbon Steel
On hardness:
Carbon Steel < Stainless Steel < Aluminum

Different hub center cap materials have different advantages and disadvantages.

1. 304 Stainless Steel:

Advantages

① Corrosion resistance: the main advantage of stainless steel is that it is corrosion resistant and will not rust and thus corrode the hub.
② Strength and wear resistance: Stainless steel is stronger than many other metallic materials and is wear-resistant.
③ Ductility: Stainless steel is highly ductile and can be easily machined into various shapes and sizes.

Disadvantages

① Stainless steel usually costs more than other materials.
② Poor Thermal Conductivity: Stainless steel has poor thermal conductivity compared to other metallic materials.
③ if the surface of stainless steel scratches and dirt may affect its appearance, may also affect its corrosion resistance.

2. Carbon Steel：

Advantages

① Carbon steel is one of the cheaper types of steel on the market today.
② Carbon steel can be processed and enhanced in a variety of ways including forging, hardening, and tempering.
③ At high temperatures, carbon steel material has excellent plasticity and can be obtained in a variety of shapes.

Disadvantages

① Carbon steel has relatively low strength. Problems may occur with the use of carbon steel products when high pressures or loads are required.
② The surface of carbon steel is susceptible to oxidization, leading to rust. Usually, our push-through center caps made of carbon steel material will be painted or plated on the surface to eliminate rust.
③ Due to the low hardness of carbon steel, it is prone to problems such as wear and fatigue fracture.

3. Aluminium：

Advantages

① Aluminum alloy is lighter than steel and carbon steel.
② Aluminum alloy is more malleable and has various shapes, which increases the aesthetics and personalization of the car.
③ The surface of the aluminum alloy hub center cap is specially treated, which can resist the erosion of corrosive substances such as water, salt, and oil and prolong the service life.

Disadvantages:

① The hardness of aluminum alloy is lower than steel, and it is easy to deform or crack when encountering strong impact or collision.
② Although the surface of the aluminum alloy hubcap is treated, it is still relatively delicate and easily scratched or worn by foreign objects such as stones and sand, which affects the aesthetics and value retention of the car.

4. ABS plastic:

Advantages

① ABS plastic has high strength.
② It has good impact resistance and rigidity.
③ ABS plastic has high surface hardness and good abrasion resistance.
④ ABS plastic is easy to process, can be made into complex shaped parts by injection molding, extrusion, and other processes, and can be cut, drilled, welded, spliced, and other processing.
⑤ ABS plastic has good corrosion resistance to a variety of chemicals

Disadvantages

① The heat distortion temperature of ABS plastic is relatively low, and not suitable for use in high-temperature environments.
② ABS plastic is easy to age and decompose, and long-term exposure to ultraviolet light is easy to discoloration, and yellowing.
③ ABS plastic is easy to burn.

① If you customize center caps on Rheedal, first, please get in touch with us and send us your samples, please click to query.
② Secondly, after we receive the samples, we will analyze the products and give you the quotation. At the same time, we will give you the data of the quantity and the mould fee. Delivery will take about 3-5 working days.
③ Thirdly, if you are sure to place an order, you will pay the deposit online via PayPal and we will start to make the moulds, which will take about 1-2 months depending on the complexity of the moulds.
④ Fourth, when mould is finished, we will start  producing and testing your customized center caps. And we will delivery the samples to you for confirmation. The process will take nearly 2 weeks.
⑤ Fifth, if you are sure that there is no problem with the samples, we will produce, quality control, and packaging. The time is about 3-4 weeks. The exact time depends on the number of products.
⑥ Finally, we will deliver the products to you. The transportation time is variable. It might take 7-30 days.
